At Wellbeing In Mind Hypnotherapy (Essex), I combine hypnosis with solution-focused therapy and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) to facilitate positive change in a relatively short period of time. This approach blends therapy and hypnosis in a gentle and supportive way that is outcome-focused, meaning you don’t have to talk about your problems. In fact, we actively avoid discussing issues because that keeps you stuck in the past. Instead, we work together on moving you forwards to a brighter future.

How it works
Diving into your problems and figuring out the root cause may seem like an obvious approach to better mental wellbeing, but all that does is keep you stuck in a cycle of anxiety. Instead, I focus on helping you to reduce stress by building more positive habits into your life.
I teach you how your brain works to create and maintain anxiety and how that underpins all the issues and aspirations listed further up this page. More importantly, I help you understand what you can do to break the cycle.
Hypnosis forms a key part of the therapy, as it leverages the brain’s natural processes to reduce stress, promote healing and facilitate positive behavioural change. Various myths abound regarding hypnosis but it’s actually a very natural state of altered awareness that we all go in and out of many times during the day.
Also known as trance, I induce this state through a gentle process of guided relaxation. It brings the conscious and subconscious parts of your mind together in focus so that you can better access your vast intellectual resources and get the very best out of yourself.
What to expect
It all starts with a free initial consultation where we do some information gathering and build an understanding of what you want to achieve. I explain some key concepts about how your brain works in terms of forming and resolving problems, which then sets the context for illustrating how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy will help you.
Each therapy session is built around you sharing what’s been good for you during the week and how you are feeling currently, followed by a structured question and answer discussion to help you identify a next step you can take to move closer to your desired outcome.
The final part of the session is the one that most clients really love! It’s the time where you get to relax back, close your eyes and do absolutely nothing except drift in and out of trance. It may not seem like much, but that’s the powerful bit that enables your mind to absorb and reflect on the work that you’ve done in the session. I also provide you with a hypnosis recording to use at home, which further enhances the therapeutic effect.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is usually highly effective over 6-12 sessions. Phobia work can be as little as 4 sessions. Smoking/Vaping Cessation can be a single 2-hour session, subject to an initial assessment.
Blocks of 6 sessions are available for £480 (giving you a saving of £60).
Please be aware that hypnotherapy is effective, however results may vary and success is not guaranteed. A degree of willpower and commitment is required, particularly for addictions, weight management and smoking/vaping cessation.

I’m Helen – a clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist and a certified NLP Master Practitioner
Since leaving a lengthy corporate career where I worked in learning & development for a large global company, I have been pursuing my passion of helping others to be the best version of themselves that they can. It may seem obvious but I’ve come to the conclusion that our mind is the most important tool we will ever own! It shapes who we are and how we perceive the world around us, influencing our mental and physical health, our happiness and ultimately our outcomes. I’ve always had a fascination with human behaviour – why we do what we do, what drives us, how some people seem to be more successful than others – and I’ve come to realise that it’s largely based on mindset.
I hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) from the Clifton Practice of Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).

Anxiety and chronic fatigue
Whilst I may have the occasional feeling of anxiety now, it has reduced enormously compared to when I first started the hypnotherapy. I have felt heard and ‘cared for’ by Helen during the time we have spent together. She is professional, friendly, listens deeply, reflects back to check in, explains the process and offers other useful and interesting information to explain what is going on and how the hypnotherapy can help to improve my everyday life.
Although I live near enough to visit for sessions each time, for personal (health) reasons it has been more convenient for me to work with Helen via Zoom for most of our sessions. Stress and resilience
I came to hypnotherapy to learn new strategies to help change my mindset into a more positive way of thinking and to stop the negative thoughts spiralling out of control. I wanted to find ways to relax, clear my mind and build my resilience to cope with difficult situations better.
My weekly sessions with Helen have been excellent, very productive. The supportive strategies Helen has given me for positive thinking and the relaxation techniques have greatly benefited me. My ways of thinking have improved, and so have my resilience and overall mental wellbeing.
